Hoy, el acceso a la educación superior ha cambiado, y más estudiantes latinos se están matriculando a las universidades, pero aún el porcentaje es bajo. Según la Oficina del Censo de los EE. UU., en Idaho los hispanos representan casi un 13% de la población. Sin embargo, hoy en día, todavía existe la preocupación acerca del número tan reducido de latinos que se matriculan y asisten a la universidad. Muchos de nuestros estudiantes latinos en Idaho tienen el deseo de entrar a la universidad y tener una buena educación; el deseo de superarse y ayudar a sus familias. La educación es necesaria en todos los sentidos porque es uno de los factores que más influye en el avance y progreso de las personas y la sociedad. Nos permite mejorar nuestro bienestar social, mejorar nuestra calidad de vida, contribuye a igualar oportunidades, formar mejores personas, y, sobre todo, la educación fomenta el crecimiento económico. Y aún más nos ayuda a obtener mejores oportunidades de empleo con salarios más competitivos. Today, access to education has changed, and more Latino students are enrolling in college, but the percentage is still low. According to the US Census Bureau, Hispanics make up almost 13% of the population in Idaho. However, today, there is still concern about the very small number of Latinos enrolling and attending college. Most Latino students in Idaho have a desire to go to college and have a good education; the desire to improve and help their parents. Education is necessary in every way because it is one of the factors that most influences the advancement and progress of people and society. It allows us to improve our social welfare, improve our quality of life, contribute to equal opportunities, train better people, and above all, education promotes economic growth. And even more, it helps us to obtain better employment opportunities with more competitive salaries. Join us for this panel discussion, where we will be chatting with Ulises Trujillo García, a recent Civil Engineering Boise State graduate, and Luis Carrillo, Clinical Assistant Professor for the Academic Support and Advancement Programs at Idaho State University.
