A NASA engineer and a combat pilot highlight the 15th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Banquet. Community members are encouraged to attend the event on Friday, Jan. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Melaleuca headquarters building (4609 West 65th South, Idaho Falls).

Idaho Falls African American Alliance Inc. will host the event with keynote speaker Major Daniel “FuZZ” Walker, F-22 mission commander with the U.S. Air Force. Walker started his career as an admissions officer and recruiter for the Air Force Academy. During his six years flying F-22 Raptors, Walker has served on multiple deployments around the world, including combat sorties in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He is a motivated community servant and avid volunteer.

The event will also feature a virtual appearance from Michelle Amos, a systems engineer at NASA. Amos’ work at NASA, which includes serving as a systems engineer for the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover, has been recognized with multiple awards.
