What's Interesting About this Concert?

Piano soloists Stephen Thomas and Michael McQuay are colleagues down the hall from each other in the Music Department at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg.

Ogden Nash wrote humorous verses to accompany a 1949 recording of Carnival of the Animals that have since supplanted all other available narrations.

The original orchestration for The Carnival of the Animals included a musical instrument called the glass harmonica, which fell out of popularity by the end of the 18th century (in part due to unproven suspicions that it caused lead poisoning!). In modern performances it is replaced by the glockenspiel - which does not cause lead poisoning.

Please note that this concert is at the Colonial Theater. Review the options for parking downtown below so you can plan accordingly!
