Go with Waterproof
A waterproof mascara will help you avoid smears when the tears come! If you don’t care for the look and feel of waterproof mascara, try applying regular mascara with a single coat of waterproof on top.

Soften the Line
Avoid black or dark brown eyeliners for the big day. More muted shades like charcoal, navy or ash brown will offer a softer contour for your eye and look less stark in photos—especially if your photos are taken with artificial or natural lighting.

Set Your Eyes
Much like with eyeliner, choose a shadow for shaping your eyes that isn’t too dark or harsh. You don’t want to overwhelm your eyes with color and detract from your smile.

Shade Your Brows
Choose a brow filler shade that matches your hair color as closely as possible, opting for one or two shades darker if you want a dramatic look.

Tint Your Cheeks
Blush on your cheeks will bring you a youthful, rosy glow and bring color to the groom’s cheeks as well. Blush also does wonders to lift and brighten your complexion.

Blend it in!
Make sure all makeup, especially foundation, is blended in thoroughly so you don’t have anything unsightly showing up in your wedding photos. Using a foundation or tinted moisturizer that matches your skin tone as closely as possible will allow you to use less and blend more easily for a natural look.

Apply in Good Light
Opt for natural light to apply your makeup in if at all possible. If you don’t have natural light in your makeup prep area, use bright halogen lights to get the best visibility possible.

Keep Your Gown Clean
Don’t apply foundation to your decolletage and risk staining your dress. Use a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen to protect your skin if you will be taking photos outdoors. This can provide some color coverage to blend your skin tone without ruining your gown.

Brighten Your Lips
A bright lip color will highlight your beautiful smile in your wedding photos. If you need a more neutral color to match your skin tone, try adding a few dots of brighter lipstick over the top and blending in for a pop of color. And don’t forget to take backup lipstick for touch-ups later on!

Remember to Bring Your Sweetest Smile
In the end, remember to smile and relax. This is your big day and you will look lovely! Let everyone see how happy you are. This is your finest feature.
