Idaho Falls is always changing and growing, especially in the past year. As a result, it should be no surprise that there are plenty of new restaurants that have opened, or will soon be opening. After all, businesses are constantly coming and going no matter where you live, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting. Here are five new restaurants that Idaho Falls residents are very excited about.

Mama Fla

This recently opened restaurant’s menu (largely consisting of pasta) comes straight from Rome, Italy, where the owners lived only two years ago. The restaurant has a bit of a backstory: The owners never really had any intentions initially to open a restaurant in Idaho. Flaminia Assirelli was setting out to be a lawyer and her husband, Marco, already had a stable job in Rome. However, when Marco was transferred to Idaho Falls, the wife and husband noticed that there were no authentic Italian restaurants around, the closest being in Salt Lake City. With encouragement from friends, the couple found the perfect place to build their restaurant and set to work.

Wing Stop

This restaurant chain has been in operation since 1994, where it started as a buffalo-style chicken wing restaurant in Texas. In 1997 it became a franchise and has since opened over 1,500 restaurants, including six locations in Idaho. However, they’re adding a seventh which will reside in Idaho Falls. With 11 signature flavours, Wing Stop prides itself on having flavourful wings that are ready as soon as you’re ready to eat.

South Fork Restaurant

With a wide variety of food items, the owner of the restaurant’s dream is to provide foods that any family would love and be able to share together, while still delivering big flavour. The owners are so set on quality that the restaurant is only open for dinner so they can provide great service and food while they’re still figuring things out. That being said, they do hope to open it for lunch and breakfast at some point as well. The restaurant was opened mid-June of 2021 by a local couple and is already super busy with reports of a huge line for food.

Mac n’ Kelly’s Pub & Grill

This unique restaurant isn’t just about dining, but good entertainment as well. It’s been praised by its customers for its great service and fun atmosphere, along with its amazing food. The restaurant, despite being a pub, is completely family-friendly and the entertainment such as pool, foosball, arcade games, live music and darts can also be enjoyed by all ages. Mac n’ Kelly’s even has a miniature drag strip for slot car racing! Opened in early 2021, it’s already a big hit with locals  and visitors alike.

Tacobox

This new Mexican food truck started business on Feb. 26. Owner, Gamaliel Loera wanted to create the restaurant so that people could have a wider variety of foods to try, and there are many Mexican foods that are oftentimes not sold in small-town Mexican restaurants. Gamaliel’s also the son of Casa De Ochoa’s owners, which is another mexican restaurant in Rexburg. The business is already doing very well and has some very interesting and unique dishes to offer.
