BLACKFOOT – It never fails. When we start asking people their favorite part of the Eastern Idaho State Fair, THE FOOD is one of the most popular answers. Each vendor works hard to come up with creations that will please the masses and they do a great job of it. One of our favorite things is to host a contest before the fair opens where each of these items can head-to-head in front of a judging panel made up of local media personalities.

This year, winners were chosen for the 9th annual Best Fair Food Awards from four categories: The “Best New Entrée,” “Best New Sweet Item,” and the grand champions “Fairest of them All” and “Sweetest of them All” awards.

Each winner received a banner to hang in their booth declaring them 2021 champions, and the Grand Champion winner has the honor of displaying the traveling Golden Corndog trophy during fair week. All entries must come from the current menu so the public will have a chance to taste the goodness as well. Local media representatives tasted each entry and judged it based on appearance and taste. These are the winners they selected.
