There’s nothing wrong with a well-earned camping-and-fishing getaway, but for this year’s Memorial Day weekend, make sure to carve out some time to pay your respects at Freeman Park for the annual Field of Honor display.

Now in its 9th year, Field of Honor features 1,000 flags planted by local volunteers. For just $30, you can sponsor a flag in the name of your hero. Proceeds from your contribution go to help local veterans, families of veterans, victims of child abuse and community crime prevention efforts.

Note: The event, hosted by the Idaho Falls Exchange Club Foundation and the City of Idaho Falls, will have a modified format for 2021. This year, visitors will drive through a special memorial route to see the multitude of full-size American flags and to reflect on the profound sacrifices they represent.
