A growing population within the Idaho Falls region has increased around the downtown region, which provides affordable housing options and abundant amenities. Twelve hundred fifty-two people live downtown. That’s an increase from 2019 by 105 people living downtown.

A: Residents of downtown Idaho Falls work in a broad range of sectors. Top jobs for downtown residents, however, include education, healthcare, arts, food, entertainment, and manufacturing professions.
Q: Is downtown living affordable?
A: One of the largest costs for families is paying for housing and transportation. The map below shows the percent of income spent on housing for median income families across the region. A family making an area median income of $54,663 will spend around 25% on housing downtown—well below the city average.
