The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce (GIFCC) has announced its annual Distinguished Under 40 honorees. Distinguished Under 40 is an awards program exclusive to the eastern Idaho area that honors 10 young professionals who have gone above and beyond to accomplish great things in their careers, community and education. To be considered for the award, young professionals are nominated by co-workers, managers and business associates. Winners are selected by a panel of GIFCC past and present board members. Fifty nominations were received this year.

This Week's Spotlight: Miranda Marquit

Miranda has been writing about money on the internet for 13 years, and in that time, she has become one of the most sought-after personal finance writers and experts in her industry. She runs her own business, which includes offering freelance writing and consulting services, as well as running a profitable website and founding an internationally recognized podcast.

A lifelong learner, Miranda is currently working on an MBA to complement her master’s degree in journalism. “Even though I’ve seen some success with my business, I think additional education can help me move to the next level,” she said. “An education almost never goes to waste.”

Miranda is also passionate about local politics and working toward making Idaho an even better place than it already is. She’s the Chair of the Bonneville County Democratic Central Committee and has been appointed to serve on city and school district committees in various capacities.

She enjoys the many outdoor opportunities available in eastern Idaho and regularly takes her teenage son camping and hiking.
