The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce (GIFCC) has announced its annual Distinguished Under 40 honorees. Distinguished Under 40 is an awards program exclusive to the eastern Idaho area that honors 10 young professionals who have gone above and beyond to accomplish great things in their careers, community and education. To be considered for the award, young professionals are nominated by co-workers, managers and business associates. Winners are selected by a panel of GIFCC past and present board members. Fifty nominations were received this year.

This Week's Spotlight: Micah Austin

Micah is the City Administrator for the City of Ammon. In this position, Micah serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the City. He manages, coordinates, formulates and monitors internal operating policies that facilitate the most efficient and fair delivery of services for the City of Ammon, including presentation and implantation of the annual city budget.

Prior to working for the City of Ammon, Micah worked for the City of Ketchum where he rewrote the 1974 land use ordinance, eliminating more than 200 pages of the zoning code. Those efforts were recognized by the Association of Idaho Cities, which awarded Ketchum with the best zoning code rewrite of 2016. He also helped supervise the effort to designate the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, making it the first dark sky reserve in the nation.

He is an outdoorsman and enjoys skiing, hunting, fishing, backpacking, birding, gardening, and anything involving his family.
