Fort Hall Business Council Appoints John Phillipp as new CEO of Fort Hall Casino and Shoshone-Bannock Hotel and Event Center

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes have appointed John Phillipp as the new CEO for their Fort Hall-based gaming, hotel and event center. The Fort Hall Business Council made the decision to combine the management of the two properties.

Phillipp has over 30 years of casino experience with major corporate and tribal properties around the country. Phillipp worked for Harrah’s for 23 years in virtually all casino operating departments ranging from room service waiter, slots, table games and casino management positions leading up to VP of Operations/Assistant General Manager (AGM). Phillipp also served as AGM at Potawatomi Casino leading over 2,800 employees and overseeing their entire operation. His organizational skills were put to the test managing the $280 million expansion at Potawatomi.

Additionally, Phillipp was the Chief Operating Officer for the Navajo Nation in New Mexico and most recently the Chief Operating Officer at LCO Casino, Lodge and Convention Center in Wisconsin. He holds a BBA and MBA from Baker University of Kansas, and is currently in his final year of a PhD Management-Leadership program at Walden University

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes own and operate three gaming properties including the Fort Hall Casino, Sage Hill Casino and Travel Center and Bannock Peak Casino and Truck Stop, as well as the newly built Shoshone-Bannock Hotel and Event Center. It is the only hotel/gaming destination in Southeast Idaho, including a casino that offers 24 hours of Las Vegas-style gaming action. It features more than 800 of the newest and most popular gaming machines including virtual blackjack, video poker and high stakes bingo.

The event center opened in July 2012 with 156 rooms, including 11 luxurious suites, the elegant Cedar Spa, dining at the Camas Sports Grill, traditional fine art at the Donzia Gift Shop, an indoor pool and fully equipped fitness center.
