Give Firehouse Grill owner Kevin La Fleur an opportunity to learn your name and you will certainly feel welcome at this gathering place. More than a restaurant, The Firehouse Grill is the place to meet after work, have dinner with your family, enjoy a date or time with friends, or catch any number of televised sporting events. Unlike many chain restaurants, it isn’t just about turning around tables, so go ahead and stay two to three hours and have a great time. Sporting over 50 large flat screen television sets and 14 beers on tap, they have been voted “best happy hour” in town several years in a row.
La Fleur has been in the restaurant/hospitality business for over thirty years and owner of The Firehouse Grill for ten. The name is inspired by his experiences with his great uncle, a member of the Chicago Fire Department. Seeing the excitement of a big city fire department would certainly make an impression on a boy! La Fleur liked the theme and ran with it.
Despite a sluggish economy, business has doubled in the last few years. So it seems that people really do just want to go where their troubles are all the same. Part of that increase in business has to do with their catering opportunities. They even have a portable smoker that they will take out to your event.
Now let’s talk food. Showcasing a huge menu, La Fleur has dish specialties from everywhere in the nation; from a New York Reuben, authentic Sheboygan bratwurst and sauerkraut, Tex-Mex, Cajun, and pasta dishes. Definitely start your visit off with one or two of their delectable appetizers. The Steamed clams are sautéed in butter, garlic, shallots, parsley and white wine. The Flatbread club is more like a flatbread pizza with grilled chicken, honey smoked bacon, garlic herbed tomatoes, Mozzarella cheese drizzled with garlic aioli and topped with fresh diced avocados. If you want one of their “four alarm appetizers” try the Italian nachos. Instead of tortilla chips, you’ll be served deep fried wontons, melted Mozzarella cheese, Italian sausage, chicken, herbed tomatoes, jalapenos, olives and Alfredo sauce.
The Fireman’s Ribeye is a Grill specialty. It is a 22 oz. choice hand cut beef, rubbed with dark espresso, ancho and chipotle chili. Topped with caramelized onions and mushrooms, it is served medium rare. This dish, affectionately known as “meat candy,” is pan seared in a 500 degree oven, which seals in the juices.
Looking for a fusion of flavors? The Chile Verde Burrito has homemade spicy pork chili verde in a flour tortilla, covered with more chili verde and cheese served with Spanish rice.
If you are in the mood for pasta, the Chicken Bacon Romano pasta is fire baked tiny penne noodles, parmesan chicken, bacon in a creamy homemade marinara and alfredo sauce topped with mozzarella, and herbed tomatoes.
Here are a few tips! Mondays you can enjoy any pasta dish for just $10.99 and Tuesdays feature Buy One Get One Free hamburgers. Come hungry and forget about a welcoming handshake, you are probably going to get a hug.
