Now in its third year of sweet success, Idaho Falls magazine’s Scoop Jam! ice cream festival is returning to Snake River Landing on Saturday, July 9. Presented by Premier Insurance, the event has quickly grown into a major community celebration with all ticket proceeds donated to the Snake River Roaring Youth Jam.

The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. Attendees will not only get all-you-can-eat ice cream (along with consequent brain freezes), but also complimentary fun jumps and live music. Anyone with room left in his or her belly can also participate in the eating contests.

Magazine representative and event organizer Jay Dye says he has high hopes for the 2011 celebration.

“Our goal for this year is $13,000 for the Snake River Roaring Youth Jam as well as $2,000 for a local scout troop,” he says. Dye says he’s also anticipating about 3,000 attendees and more vendors this year serving ice cream.

Additional sponsors for 2011 include East Idaho Credit Union, Idaho Central Credit Union, Fantastic Sams, Phillips Hearing Center, Foxstone Financial, Play-N-Trade Video Games, Bonaventure, Randy Smith & Mark Marlowe Pediatric Dentistry, Nalder Law Office, Advanced Health & Physical Therapy Center, Ran Life Home Loans, Snake River Landing and Riverbend Communications (KLCE, Z103, KBear, Newstalk 1260 & The Hawk).

Over 2,000 people attended the 2010 all-you-can-eat ice cream festival, which raised $7,926 for the Snake River Roaring Youth Jam.

Tickets for this year are $7 in advance or $10 at the gates. Pre-purchase tickets are available at the Idaho Falls Arts Council at 522-0471.
