Rods and rigs for ocean-run rainbows

It’s a river scene right out of your most fantastic fantasy. Late fall color reflects on the ripples. Bodies and boats hold in that reflection trying to attract what’s under the water from above it. Craig Lannigan is one of the angling silhouettes working a seam for steelhead.

“I look at it this way: you have the lady of the river,” Lannigan says. “Sometimes she kisses you. Sometimes she ignores you. Sometimes she slaps you in the face and other times she gives everything to you. That’s the way steelheading is.”
