The gulp. It’s what draws anglers to the banks of the Henry’s Fork. It’s the exciting possibility of a fish gulping a fly in a blue ribbon trout stream. That’s what Henry’s Fork Foundation protects.
“You almost can’t imagine the Henry’s Fork without the Henry’s Fork Foundation and the work we do here,” says Brandon Hoffner, Henry’s Fork Foundation executive director. “They’ve seen the river without the Henry’s Fork Foundation. Now they see it with the Henry’s Fork Foundation and it’s a match made in heaven.”
The Henry’s Fork Foundation started in 1994 with 30 members who all wanted to protect the fishery. The foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary this summer with 3,000 members and a long list of successful watershed work making the organization highly respected throughout the nation.
“It brings tears to your eyes to think how naively it began,” says Mick Mickelson, Henry’s Fork Foundation founding member. “And yet amazing to see so many quality people get behind an organization with real results.”
The foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary in Island Park June 14 with its annual Henry’s Fork Days event. For more information go to http://www.henrysfork.org/
