Filene Research Institute welcomes Kent Oram, CEO at Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU) to its research council. Oram joins 34 other CEOs from credit unions across the United States and Canada currently serving as members of the research council.

Filene’s research council helps plan the nonprofit’s research projects, volunteers to pilot Filene innovations at their credit unions, and works with Filene’s outside researchers to provide access and insights to the credit union system.

“The research council has played a crucial role in charting the future of cooperative finance since Filene’s beginnings 25 years ago,” said Mark Meyer, CEO at Filene. Oram adds, “I appreciate how this organization focuses on how financial institutions, especially credit unions, can keep adapting to the ever changing economic, legal, and social environments.  The research they conduct is definitely applicable to us.”

Oram is the CEO of Idaho Central Credit Union, one of the fastest growing credit unions in the Nation. ICCU was just named the best performing credit union in the country by SNL Financial as well as the Best Place to Work in Idaho in 2013 by IBR, Populus.

Oram began his career at ICCU in 1984. He has been in his current position as CEO since 2007. He believes the key to a successful organization is employee engagement and is on a journey to build a culture at Idaho Central that is world class.
