Volunteer Profile: Stephanie Nielsen
Meet Stephanie Nielsen, just one of EIRMC’s 200+ volunteers. Stephanie is a local resident of Idaho Falls, and has been volunteering at EIRMC for an impressive 21 years. Twice a week she greets patients and visitors while working at the front desk and fills in the gaps as a “runner”—delivering flowers, messages and other gifts to patients. She also holds a position on EIRMC’s Auxiliary Board—the separate body that raises money for local healthcare scholarships, and various internally funded projects.
Once a month, Stephanie and her neighbor print off inspirational quotes. When she is working she passes them out to employees. This is just one of her signature moves—a great pick-me-up for all employees. Stephanie is a loyal member of the EIRMC family, and for that, we are thankful.
In 2013, EIRMC volunteers donated a combined total of $36,818. The Auxiliary Board also donated $10,000 to the Good Fellows Fund and $5,000 each to Eastern Idaho Technical College, Idaho State University and BYU-Idaho to be used for healthcare scholarships. EIRMC currently has volunteers for the following areas: shuttle service, ER, medical imaging, Patient Family Advisory Council, gift shop, information desk, surgical and ICU waiting rooms, Pet Partners, chaplains/faith based, NICU/nursery cuddlers, and the Cancer Center.
