The Idaho Old Time Fiddlers, along with the students of Jacie Sites, are holding a Food Drive/fundraiser to benefit the Idaho Falls Soup Kitchen.

The organization serves over 50,020 meals a year to the homeless, young, elderly, handicapped, unemployed and anyone in need -- no questions asked.

The ongoing effort cannot be sustained without the help of the community. Of special importance are food and/or money donations.

The benefit performance will be May 10 at Rocky Mountain Middle School in the auditorium at 7 p.m. featuring some entertaining hoe-down, waltzes and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of canned food.

According to event organizers, this is the first year of the event, but the group's intention is to hold it every year to benefit a specific charity in the local community.

About the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers

The purpose of the Old Time Fiddlers is to promote and to perpetuate old-time fiddling, encourage young people to develop their musical talents and hold "Jam sessions" and "fiddling contests" for the enjoyment of the members of the association as well as the enjoyment by the public. The organization encourages fiddling meetings and parties for the purpose of exchanging ideas in the techniques of fiddling. It also produces recordings to preserve old fiddle tunes and other country music.
