Beginning Weaving Class
Learn to weave on a loom with the Weaving, Spinning, and Fiber Arts Guild of Idaho Falls

Learn to weave on a loom in our Beginning Weaving Class.

The class will be held on two consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 19 and 26, from 9 am till 5 pm. There will be an opportunity to break for lunch. The cost is $110, which Terry is donating to our Fiber Arts Guild, and also $10 materials fee which includes yarn and class documents. We will use Guild equipment unless you have a loom you’d like to bring and use.

The class will encompass the following outline and we will weave a small sampler.

Outline:
1. Anatomy of a loom
2. How much yarn do I need
3. Measuring warp
a. yarn sizes
b. sett
4. Winding on a warp
5. Threading heddles and reed
6. Tightening warp
7. Finally – let’s weave!!
a. plain weave
b. 1-2 twill
8. Finishing
