The Idaho Falls Chukars are gearing up for another season of baseball and a fun-filled summer on the field.
Beginning on May 17th, this Minor League Baseball team will play 48 home games on Melaleuca Field and 48 away games throughout the season. The first regular season home opener game will be on May 21st against the Missoula PaddleHeads.
When playing home games on Melaleuca Field, the Chukars will host several events and promotions.
“There will be all kinds of events and promotions,” Paul Henderson, Vice President of the Idaho Falls Chukars said. “There will be fireworks, potato night and dollar dog night again. We have a steam camp, which is for you to bring your kids and a bunch of little league stuff. On Sundays, kids will get in free and there will be free water slides.”
Aside from the popular recurring events, the Chukars host many giveaways each season. Each year there are t-shirt nights, hat nights, a team cap giveaway, a bobblehead giveaway and this year there will be some new giveaways, including a pit viper and sunshade hat giveaway.
This season is particularly exciting as the team announces a new manager will be joining the team.
“We are very excited to add Troy Percival to our team,” Chris Hall, General Manager of Baseball Operations said. “We all believe Troy’s experience playing at the highest levels and recruiting high level players at the division one college level will help put together a team that Idaho Falls can be proud of.”
This season’s team will have some returning players and a lot of new faces. “Our ultimate goal is always to see the development of the players,” Paul said. “We want to see them reach their potential by the end of the season.”

“Our main focus is just to keep the ballpark clean, family environment and let people know there's entertainment," Paul said. “I grew up coming to the games and it's always a highlight of my summer, so I want to keep that tradition going with kids, parents and baseball fans.”
