Perched on the rolling hills southeast of town, the Idaho Falls Country Club is more than a championship golf facility. Thanks to some recent developments, it’s also poised to serve as a magnet for family fun.

While the main 18-hole layout still caters to players of all abilities, the club has also developed a unique short course called “The Bell.” This pint-size layout has holes ranging from 70-125 yards. Along with standard cups, The Bell also features large foot-size golf cups at each hole for those youngsters who would rather kick a soccer ball.

The country club is also continuing its expansive junior program, starting at age 5. It features activities such as after-school instruction, PGA Jr. League teams, junior tournaments, and a summer junior golf academy.

Upscale, family-friendly amenities can also be found throughout the clubhouse, pro shop and restaurant. The main dining provides an elegant experience, matched by a menu that features some of the region’s finest cuisine. (With enough notice, the club’s culinary staff can have special entrees prepared upon request.) The adjacent lounge provides an ideal place to catch a mid-round snack or take advantage of a fully stocked bar. That includes a lineup of diverse beers, an excellent wine selection, premier liquors, and various non-alcoholic beverages.

Throughout the summer, the club offers live music on the patio, as well as social events throughout the year. Various member tournaments and golf events dot the IFCC calendar, such as “9 and Dines,” weekly leagues, club championships and member-guest tournaments.

Making all this possible, the club has assembled specialized teams to deliver the ultimate country-club experience for its members.

Jason Jacobsen, the club’s Head PGA Professional since 2007, took over the role of IFCC General Manager in January. In addition to his own talents as a player, Jason has a knack for growing the game of golf through teaching and creating fun activities for all ages and skill levels.

Culinary connoisseurs around the region will likely already know the name of Shane Odell, formally of Chef Shane’s Perspective. Hired at the beginning of last year, the IFCC Executive Chef brings a special passion for cooking and a background in Caribbean Culinary. He is joined by Chef Robert Cannizzaro, who brings 23 years of experience from establishments like The Snakebite and Harris Ranch, as well as locations such as Santa Barbra and Switzerland.

Also be sure to check the club’s page on Facebook for non-member dining options and carry-out opportunities to sample Chef Shane's latest offerings.
