You can curse it all you want, but windy weather is just a fact of life here on the high desert plain. Why not take advantage and set sail? Here are five great venues around town to fly a kite:
1. Community Park: Easy access with moderate tree trouble. Watch out for ongoing softball games.
2. Old Butte Soccer Complex: Over 76 acres, so even when it’s busy, there will be plenty of room to find your spot.
3. Taylor View Junior High: Wide open turf east of the school. Be mindful of any ongoing sports.
4. Rigby High School: The expansive lawn is home to its own annual kite festival.
5. Sandy Downs: Also home to a recurring festival. Look for the open grassy area north of the track.
