The big day is here! It’s time for the game your kids have been practicing for -- running laps, practicing drills and collaborating with their team. Make your game day rock with these tips from IFM Staff:
Bring plenty of supplies. Water bottles, shin guards, cleats, uniforms, ball of your chosen sport and more are all necessities on game day. Make sure to send your kid onto the field with the necessary supplies, so that they can feel confident going up against the opposing team.
Double-check the schedule. There are many things that can go wrong when you have a busy life, showing up on the wrong day or field though are easily preventable problems. Keep your schedule somewhere visible and check it twice.
Prepare kids for the win, but also the loss. Learning to be respectful on the field is one of many skills learned through team sports. Teach your child to congratulate the other team if they happen to lose.
Keep everyone hydrated! Pack your cooler full of water, Gatorade, juice pouches and your other drinks of choice.
Let the coaches coach. This is a hard one, but necessary if you want the kids to enjoy the game. When parents get too involved it can lead to misery for both teams.
Get your game day cheer on. Whether your reigning in a win or dealing with a loss, remember to be encouraging. The game is what you make it, so make it a good experience no matter what the outcome.
