Here Comes the Sun

Congrats. You’ve done it. You’ve survived another Idaho winter. Yes, it may still snow again, but the worst of it is over, which means it is time to break out your Hawiian tees and short shorts. Actually, I wouldn’t recommend that until we’re at least well into July, but it’s a nice sentiment.

One of the things I love most about Idaho Falls is spring. It’s a time that sings of hope. The dreary whiteness finally begins to retreat and if you pay enough attention, you might just spot something green making its way to the surface.

That little bit of green allows us to dream of days where we won’t turn into icicles while walking our dogs or have to wake up an hour early to shovel the driveway. Even better, it spurs us to start thinking about warm bike rides and picnics at Freeman Park.

If you want to make the best of your time in the sun, I recommend sitting down to hash out a game plan with family and friends. There are so many things to do in our area and you’re sure to miss out if you aren’t prepared.

For example, if you want to run a race, then now is the time to start hitting the gym. If you want to become an expert hiker then start scheduling the hikes you’ll take on your weekends off. If you want to get into a particular sport then spend some time learning from experts and purchasing the correct supplies.

For this month’s issue of IFM we’ve collected a host of information to help you get outdoors and make the best of your time while the sunshine lasts. We’ve researched everything you need from some of the top hikes in our area to an inside look at the celebrations surrounding Earth Day. Not only that, but we’ve asked Kris Millgate, an expert in her field, to share with all of us about trailblazers making headway with conservation and garb you can take with you to enjoy the outdoors.

Everything you could possibly need to properly explore the outdoors of southeastern Idaho properly is here. So, read up about all of the adventures you want to take and get out there and take them.
