If you’ve lived in the region for a while, you’d probably agree that local traditions speak volumes. Few annual events, however, carry the cultural weight and historical significance of the American Dog Derby in Ashton.

The event is now gearing up for its 103rd annual run.

The participation numbers have waxed and waned over the decades, but the festival is still nationally renowned for its core of competitive races as well as a unique lineup of festivities that still bring in the crowds.
