Ready for the ultimate road-trip opportunity for one of the most unique events in the region? Call up your friends, round up the fam and fish out your favorite racing duds for Sunday, May 19 in Jackson -- home of the annual Ultimate Towner obstacle course race.

Discounted Registration is now open with adult registration set for $69 through May 12, with youth and senior entry at $29!

Registration includes an event T-shirt (while supplies last), free photo by the event photographer, a free local beer for the adults and a full range of event prizes from sponsors.

Think the race might be too hard for you? Think again!

“We have had participants as young as 4 and as old as 76 complete the course,” notes event creator Tim Walther. “The senior center has a team of 12 participants all over 60 complete the event. We have also had someone with a wheelchair complete it.”

Walther estimates that upwards of 80 percent of the participants come out simply for the fun. (Take one look at the festive costumes for proof in the pudding.)

“You can choose to do as much as you want -- just choose your obstacles to attempt/complete,” Walthers said. “You can ride a bike in between parks. You can walk the entire course. Once you are there the energy and excitement of 500+ people of all ages and abilities will motivate you!”

For those not interested in participating, there are still plenty of opportunities to volunteer. Doing so will get you a race discount, T-shirt, food and an amazing experience. To spectate and cheer on your favorite team, be sure to show up by 11:30 on Sunday for festivities and opening ceremonies. The entire course is set up to be spectator-friendly.

For those who don’t pre-register, sign-up is $89 on event day.
