Friday ceremony to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI

PRESS RELEASE

The City of Idaho Falls and the Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation Department will be holding a Veterans Day Ceremony and Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the end of WWI on Friday, November 9th beginning at 11 am.

The ceremony will be held at the Idaho Falls War Memorial, located across from 520 Memorial Drive, along the River Walk.

The event will feature the posting of colors and a special rifle salute by the America Legion, Post 56.  The American Heritage Charter School Choir will be featured singing the national anthem and the Idaho Falls Fire Department Pipes and Drums will provide music for the event. 

Mayor Rebecca Casper will be a featured speaker, as will American Legion National Committee Member and local veteran, Bob Skinner.  In addition to Casper and Skinner, former Idaho legislator and local historian Linden Bateman will also provide remarks.

In addition to the speakers, the event will feature a special salute commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that ended WWI.   The event is free to the public and there will be light refreshments provided.
