From John Crook, owner of Town and Country Gardens

  • Use a high quality potting mix. You generally get what you pay for.
  • Be sure there is a drainage hole in the bottom of the pot.
  • Check your pots every day. Water thoroughly if surface of soil is dry.
  • Choose annual flowers that bloom all season long such a geraniums, trailing petunias, lobelia, etc.
  • If pot is to be placed in a shady area, choose plants that tolerate shade like begonias, impatiens, coleus, etc.
