Don’t let the white stuff fool you. Spring is knocking, and it won’t be long before local ball fields are drift-free and ready to host all kinds of youth sports.

In fact, registration is already open for Idaho Falls Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken Baseball. A skills day is set for April 1, and the season runs April 24 to early June.

Both Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken Baseball are national organizations that charter local community baseball programs. In I.F., the organization is a volunteer-staffed group dedicated to creating a competitive and fun baseball experience for local youth in Idaho Falls, Shelley, and Firth. Aside from league charter fees, money raised from registration and donations stays in the community.

Teams are available for both boys and girls ages 8-18. The $99 sign-up fee includes a team jersey and hat.

Visit the local league’s homepage at www.idahofallsbaberuth.org to create an account and register online.

In addition to players, the league is also on the hunt for volunteer coaches and umpires.
