TAKE IT SLOW OR GO FOR A RUN.

Whatever speed you prefer, a hike is sure to get your heart pumping. Explore the Snake River, get a close look at wildlife, travel to a nearby city and have new experiences. Here are a few short hikes to get you safely started toward becoming a novice:

Cress Creek Nature Trail
Hikers of Cress Creek Nature Trail are known to spot deer, rabbits, snakes, moose and bald eagles. The trail is accessible for the first mile of the hike, giving all the opportunity to take in views of the Snake River and surrounding mountains.

LOCATION: Ririe

Driggs Pathways
Explore Driggs on foot. You might typically drive through this old town with a Western and contemporary edge, but the Driggs Pathways provide a healthy alternative, stretching from Main Street to Highway 33.

Idaho Falls River Walk
One of the top attractions of Idaho Falls, the Idaho Falls River Walk provides a view of the falls and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints temple located along the Snake River. Statues, benches and other forms of artwork can be found along the path.

The Menan Butte
Hike the North Menan Butte and brag to your friends that you’ve walked along the inside of a dormant volcano. Known locally for the “R” on the side of the mountain, welcoming all to Rexburg, this is a moderate hike.

Portneuf Greenway
The Portneuf Greenway is a trail system meant to one day boast 27 miles of trails. There are several points to tackle the trail, and favorite spots include the Edson Fichter Nature Area, Portneuf Wellness Complex and Idaho State University.
