Revive, Preserve and Pass on your Heritage...
Do you have old, fading or damaged family photos or documents that you
would like to preserve for future generations? Everybody has those old
pictures of Grandparents, Great-Grandparents and family members as well
as beloved pets who are no longer with us. Chances are if they are over 15
to 20 years old they are done "the old fashioned way", on film with
paper prints made. Just like old newspapers that yellow and fade over
time, so will your paper prints, eventually to the point where they will
become extremely difficult to see and get worse as time goes
on. Unfortunately, there is no way to stop the aging process of film or
paper. There is a way to "Freeze" the aging process by scanning the
original paper or film prints and creating a digital version. The
advent of photo editing programs has even made it possible to bring
them back to life by restoring color and contrast as well as repairing
damaged photos. Making multiple copies of priceless photos has also
become very simple compared to the painstaking, time consuming process
that it once was with film and paper.
Harris Publishing now offers a photo scanning/retouching service
that will preserve and, more importantly, freeze the aging process of
your photos and documents. Let us preserve and revive them in a
non-aging digital form forever so they can be passed on to future
generations.
A basic scan of a photo or document implies just that, a digital
image of the photos or documents you provide with no retouching or
fixing of damaged pieces, provided to you on a cd in a Jpeg or Tiff
format. Pricing starts at $10 for one or 3 for $25, volume discounts
are available.
A retouched scan involves the basic scan plus the repair and or
revival that is requested. This process can be very simple to
extremely complex depending on the severity of the damage or requested
repair. Retouching is a visual task and free estimates will be given
upon inspection of the original piece. Call Jim at 208-542-2331 to
make an appointment or if you have any questions.
Please see the examples on this page as to what can be done
as far as retouching and revival.
