Some of I.F.'s best restaurants sit in close proximity to each other. Specifically, consider Lindsay Boulevard. This street has at least a trio of fine-dining establishments--all just a stone's throw from the Greenbelt. Perhaps there's something about the ambiance that attracts culinary excellence, because in late May the boulevard got an extra helping of it thanks to the Classy 97 2012 Recipe Rumble.
This unique community cook-off/grill-off/bake-off brought in a plethora of delicious dishes to be judged by cooking experts and fellow citizens around the Idaho Falls area.
Some came wielding spatulas. Others were armed in oven mitts. A few even sported their own custom aprons.
The idea was to celebrate great home-cooked food and share unique recipes in a public forum, but the event also tapped into the participants' competitive spirit.
In the end, two locals took top honors at the fifth Annual Classy 97 Recipe Rumble held on Saturday, May 19.
Kristie Scott of Hamer walked away with the new commercial grade Kitchen Aid mixer for the bake-off division overall winner and Chris Baxter of Idaho Falls won a new set of All-Clad pots and pans for the cook-off division's overall winner. Both prizes were provided by Rush’s Kitchen Supply in Idaho Falls.
