Set for July 14, the United Truck and Tractor Pullers are pulling into I.F. for a full evening of high powered excitement.
Once relegated to horses, the sport of pulling has been around for nearly a century. Whether you’re a tractor lover or a truck enthusiast, events like this are guaranteed to impress.
For newbie spectators to this unique sport, the object of the pulls is to see who can go the fastest and farthest down the track pulling a weight-transfer sled. The sled itself is a machine composed of a frame, drive-line assembly, skid pad and weight box.
The puller with the farthest distance gets the most points in the competition and wins the first-place title.
There are several classes of tractors and trucks in this event, including Super Stock, Modified, Super Modified, Natural Aspirated Mini, Super Modified Mini, Pro Farm Tractor and Super Farm Tractor. For all the tech details and more information, visit www.unitedpullers.net.
This edition of the 2012 Edge Pulling Series, presented by PowerLabs Diesel, will be held at Sandy Downs at 6 p.m. According to event organizers, all gas and diesel pickups are welcome. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for kids 6-12. (Discount tickets are available at PowerLabs: 3912 Yellowstone Hwy.) In addition to the pull-spectating you'll also have a chance to ride the world's largest monster truck!
