Now in its fourth year of sweet success, Idaho Falls magazine's Scoop Jam! ice cream festival is returning to Snake River Landing on Saturday, July 14. Presented by Premier Insurance, the event has quickly grown into a major community celebration with ticket proceeds donated to the Snake River Roaring Youth Jam.
The brain-freezing fiesta will run from noon to 4 p.m. Attendees will not only get free ice cream, but also complimentary fun jumps and live music. Anyone with room left in his or her belly can also participate in the eating contests.
Along with Premier Insurance, additional sponsors for 2012 include Allstate Insurance, Dr. Randy Smith & Dr. Mark Marlowe Pediatric Dentistry, Falls Printing, Fantastic Sams Hair Salons, Idaho Central Credit Union, Idaho Falls Arts Council, John Blumhorst Construction, Mountain America Credit Union, Museum of Idaho, Microserve and Snake River Landing.
Over 2,500 people attended the 2011 all-you-can-eat ice cream festival, which raised $8,000-plus for its namesake beneficiary -- the Snake River Roaring Youth Jam.
Tickets for this year are on sale for $7 in advance or $10 at the gates. Pre-purchase tickets are available at the Idaho Falls Arts Council at 522-0471.
So who's got the scoop for 2012? Ice cream vendors include Farr's Ice Cream, Reeds Dairy, Orange Leaf, Cold Stone Creamery, Kiwi Loco, Graeters and a special offering of gelato.
