Check out these feature shots and out-takes from our annual photo tour of I.F.'s finest restaurants, cook-off events and other assorted excuses for us to chow down with reckless abandon.
Here's an interesting tidbit for you: In the three-week span of May 7-28, our editor/photographer (Yours Truly) gained no less than 12 pounds. This is just further evidence that the way food is presented can have quite an effect on whether or not it is consumed. I.F. is full of great food, and when it's displayed just right, it's nearly impossible to resist.
At some point, even the most avid restaurant aficionado has to put on the brakes from time to time. Mixing up one's dine-out excursions with down-home cooking creates a better appreciation for both meal-time settings.
For the latter, it's hard to go wrong with a trip to one of our local farmer's markets.
The farmer's market experience is a great three-season tradition in Idaho Falls.
The downtown market is located next to the beautiful Snake River Greenbelt in the Key Bank parking lot, downtown. The Pier View market can be found over at Snake River Landing.
These open-air markets bring the best of Idaho’s bounty, including in-season greenery and produce throughout the spring, summer and fall.
Fresh, outstanding variety from the many vendors reflect a concerted effort to offer quality and value with fresh produce, nursery items, specialty foods, meats, breads and pastries.
And with a little skill and training, you can make any home-cooked dish just as appealing to the eyes as it is to the belly. After all, being able to savor what you see is a big part of the dining experience.
