This race is the second in the Portneuf Valley Fun Run/Walk Race Series. Participants are invited to run or walk one, several or all of the races. The fun run series consists of five events from May through September. This is the granddaddy of Pocatello running events, going back about 30 years according to legend. Advanced registration is encouraged and can be handled at the Parks and Recreation office at 144 Wilson ave or online at Active.com. You can also register at each race. Into the summer months, the series also includes the Joint Jaunt Run on July 14 and the Mohs Derm Dash on Aug. 11.

JUNE 23

To Bone & Back Relay Race

www.summitortho.net

The "To Bone & Back" 40-mile relay, 5-mile run, ultra-marathon is unique among local races in that a majority of participants are runners in eight-person relay teams. Each runner carries the Bone Baton for a 5-mile leg, and then hands off to the next teammate. For the truly adventurous, the 40-mile solo ultra-marathon is also available. For those unable to get a relay team together, the five-mile run is also available. The route begins in Idaho Falls, and continues along winding, hilly country roads to the small farming area called Bone. The Relay Race then returns along the same route. Cost is $20 per runner.
