Direct sale of produce from the garden to the consumer is one of the oldest forms of commerce in the United States. Outdated now with the advent of grocery stores, traditional farmers markets still have their place--especially in small-town America where the social experience and charms of "keeping it local" still hold sway.
It just so happens that in East Idaho, we have a healthy handful of them, including some that are already hopping or opening up shortly!
Of special note is the Pier View Artisan Market--the newest outdoor market in Idaho Falls. Snake River Landing is home to the market, which is both a venue for farmers' produce and fine works from area artisans. You can also munch your way through the market's food court while tapping your foot to live music on the Pier.
