It’s all about the student. When it comes to commitment, caring, helping, giving, sharing with students who are interested in seeking higher education, Sheri Dewey is sought after by parents, students and high school counselors. Her knowledge of colleges and universities, and financing education is broad and deep. She is loved by her students and their parents.
Sheri has worked for ISU for almost 30 years. She spent many years as Associate Director for Recruitment Services talking to students across Idaho and nearby states about higher education. In 2001 she moved to Idaho Falls to assume the position of Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships on the Idaho Falls Campus. There are consultants who charge for the same type of advice Sheri offers, however, the financial aid assistance she gives to students is free, regardless of the institution they plan to attend.
She commonly goes the extra mile for students and parents; traveling around the area giving financial aid seminars at the high schools. She even goes to Salmon, Challis and Mackay, believing that it is important that students in smaller areas have access to the information she presents.
Sheri started a chapter of the ISU Ambassadors Club on the Idaho Falls Campus. This group gives students the opportunity to develop leadership skills while giving service to the campus and community.
Sheri has been extremely active in student financial-aid organizations, and now organizes the annual FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Financial Aid) Day in February for the entire southeast Idaho region.
Her list of accolades and awards is extensive. Most importantly, Sheri is always willing to assist students and parents with drive, dedication and enthusiasm.
