Lewis Sports a New Role
Local radio voice joins ISU football broadcast
Idaho State Athletics has announced the addition of Tim Lewis, the host of Idaho's Morning News with Riverbend Communications, to the Idaho State football broadcast team. Lewis will replace Brad Bugger in the booth as Bugger is stepping away from the football broadcasts. Bugger will continue to broadcast Idaho State men's and women's basketball games.
Lewis, who hosts his own morning talk show on 690 and 1260 AM from 6-9 a.m., is no stranger to sports broadcasting. He has over 25 years of doing either play by play, color, studio work or PA announcing for college and professional sports.
“I am beyond thrilled to join Jerry (Miller) in broadcasting ISU football this fall,” Lewis said. “It feels like a certain kind of kismet since I have known Jerry since the mid-80's when we first worked together. I am also excited to be working with coach Kramer and his staff, and look forward to what he is building here. I hope to bring a sense of excitement to the broadcast and can't wait to get started.”
This also won't be the first time that Lewis and Miller teamed up to work Bengal football. Lewis did sideline reporting from 1986-88 when Miller and Dave Molitor were calling the games. Lewis is a two-time Edward R. Murrow Award recipient when he worked for KOA in Denver. He has also been named Sportscaster of the Year eight times during stints in Utah, California, Nevada and Colorado.
Lewis has also done work for Weber State, Ohio University, Utah Valley University, the Mountain West Conference, Colorado, Colorado Rockies, Xavier and Cincinnati along with TV work for a semi-arena football team in Cincinnati.
Miller and Lewis will call the Bengals final spring scrimmage live online at isubengals.com beginning at 12:30 p.m.
"First of all, I'm definitely going to miss working with Brad Bugger in football, but look forward to teaming up again for ISU basketball,” Miller said. “At the same time, I'm thrilled to be working with Tim. He and I worked together in Pocatello way back in the 1980s, and since then Tim has compiled an impressive resume' in sports broadcasting. I'm really looking forward to sharing the mic with him to cover Bengalfootball. I think he'll bring a great deal to the broadcasts, and Bengal fans should be excited!"
