From its unique local establishments to a cob salad of chains serving everything from Mexican to Mongolian, Idaho Falls has no shortage of interesting eateries. Until lately, that included just about every cuisine save one: seafood.
Idaho Falls has long been pining for a dedicated seafood restaurant, and now it has a true whopper with the surfacing of Captain's Cove, located near the corner of Channing and 17th Street. (It's the site of the former "Buddy's" Italian restaurant.)
Captain's Cove is locally owned by Dick Skidmore and Linda Weiss-Hill, who gave the green light to Sherri Biorn, now the restaurant's head manager, and head chef John Wilson. Since then that duo has produced a record catch of delicious dishes. Mouth-watering meals include coconut shrimp, king crab legs and full selection of appetizers and side dishes.
According to Biorn, the new restaurant fills an important niche in the local dining community. "But it's not exclusive, either," she says. "We have a lot of range in what we offer. We have a wide base of clientel for a seafood menu and menu offerings that are more than reasonable."
