Helping Those Who Help

"The purpose of CommuniTEAM is to offer assistance to those individuals and organizations already serving our community and helping those in need," says Idaho Falls magazine Publisher and CEO, Jason Harris. "We will be offering our time, our resources and our media leverage to promote good causes in hopes of increasing the result. For example, we could team up with a local organization's winter coat drive by promoting it online and in print, serving as a drop zone, etc." 

It is a joint charitable initiative between Idaho Falls magazine and its sister company, Falls Printing.

Following is a list of different efforts where you can help. Volunteer opportunities exist and all gladly accept donations. They are all very worthwhile causes and we encourage you to take time, join in and give back.

IDAHO FALLS COMMUNITY FOOD BANK

A non-profit food bank/distribution center which feeds hundreds of hungry families in the Idaho Fallsarea.

THE SOUP KITCHEN

Provides a hot meal six days a week to anyone who needs one in a safe and dignified atmosphere.

EASTERN IDAHO COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP

Offers assistance with food, heating, etc. throughout eastern Idaho. The Haven Shelter provides emergency shelter, short term transitional housing and supportive services to homeless families and single women.

CITY OF REFUGE FAMILY CARE CENTER

Operates an 18-bed emergency shelter for homeless men. Also provides meals, food, and personal items to the hungry and hurting in our area. Volunteers to prepare meals are always needed.

THE SALVATION ARMY

Provides emergency food, shelter and seasonal assistance. Operates the annual Salvation Army's Angel Tree program.

BE INVOLVED IN YOUR COMMUNITY: 

We have a close friend to our family and the Harris family (Harris Publishing) named Ryan Jaussi. Ryan suffered a horrible hunting accident. As much as a business Facebook page probably shouldn't be used for this, Jason Harris asked me to do this today. We are looking for help, any help of any kind to support this family. 

Curtis had to have his left leg amputated as a result of a horrible accident while bear hunting. If you visit this website: www.donateidaho.com you can learn more about the story, see photos and if you choose to support them there are options available.

Our hope is to create a community support system for Curtis and his family. Curtis is undergoing another surgery in Boise tomorrow and will hopefully be home next week. We are grateful he is alive. Thanks to his good friend Carson Beattie, his quick thinking and smart actions, Curtis is still alive to be a husband, a father and a friend.

Curtis and Colette have not asked for donations, they wouldn't. They are an awesome young couple with two beautiful young daughters(Maelee & Makia) and a bouncing baby boy(Cameron) as well as a bright future. They are hard working, fun loving and just wonderful people.
