In an
effort to boost interest from potential tourists, The Idaho Falls Convention
and Visitors Bureau (IFCVB) has recently completed and posted a new “Visit
Idaho Falls” video featurette on the homepage of its website at www.visitidahofalls.com.
According
to the video’s producer, Steve Smede, the 90-second piece draws on dozens of
video clips shot over the last 18 months, including scenes and activities from
around the region.
“When the
idea first surfaced, my first thought was, ‘How am I going to round it all up?’
Smede said. “Then it hit me. Most of what I needed was already in my archives.”
A few
months prior to the Visit Idaho Falls project, Smede and his colleagues at Idaho Falls magazine had completed
a web-based video series called “East Idaho Impressions.” It included scenes of
area waterfalls, camping, fishing and recreational events around I.F.
Much of the
unused original footage from that series—as well as recently shot material from
Smede’s personal collection—was re-cut and incorporated into the finished
piece.
Along with
Smede’s edit and camerawork, the video also includes the voice talent of KLCE
97’s Liza Raley. Mike Nelson, Raley’s morning radio co-host, also contributed a
voiceover track.
“Both Mike
and Liza did a fantastic read of the material,” Smede said. “Just hearing them
speak about our town could pique any tourist’s curiosity.”
Also on the
Visit Idaho Falls homepage is a link to the bureau’s official Visitor’s Guide, where a digital version of the 64-page printed
publication can be viewed in it entirety. (The guide is produced by Harris
Publishing, Idaho Falls
magazine’s parent company)
