Shanty Town Event
Build a shack and sleep in it overnight to help raise awareness and funds for housing issues within the your community and worldwide. Lots of fun activities are being planned including music, food, games and competition for prizes.

Register your team NOW for Habitat for Humanity Idaho Falls Area's Shantytown Event, happening on August 25th - 26th @ 1290 Science Center Drive, Band Shelter #2 in Freeman Park.

Build a shack and sleep in it overnight to help raise awareness and funds for housing issues within the your community and worldwide. Lots of fun activities are being planned including music, food, games and competition for prizes.

Prizes will be awarded in the following fundraising categories:
1. Most money raised through pre-event pledges - ask your friends and families to sponsor your "sleep-a-thon"
2. Most money raised during the event telethon - bring your cell phones to participate
Prizes will be awarded in the following construction categories:
1. People's Choice Award - visitors to our event will vote for their favorite shanty
2. Most Attractive - this shanty shows the most pride in ownership
3. Most Creative - this shanty will be the best example of unique use of discarded materials
4. Most Sturdy/Dependable - if you had to live in a shanty for real, this is the shanty you would want to live in

EVENT RULES
1. Participants must be 13 years of age or older
2. Every shanty must have a respnsible adult 21 or older
3. Shanties can be built by individuals or teams of up to five
4. Participants must sleep in their shanties overnight - bring your own bedding
5. NO POWER TOOLS ALLOWED - Bring your own materials/tools
6. No motorized vehicles allowed on grassed areas
7. Absolutely no punding stakes into the ground
8. Participants responsible for cleanup by noon on Sat., Aug 26th
9. Participants must sign a liability waiver prior to the event
10. All unregistered guests must leave the event by 10 pm Aug 25th
11. Dinner and Breakfast provided for registered guests only
12. Absolutely NO SMOKING, DRUGS OR ALCOHOL permitted
