With the snowy season upon us, I.F. Parks and Recreation has begun its winter preparations with two notable closures: the Floating Bridge under U.S. Highway 20 and South Tourist Park.

According the City's news release, the park "was converted to a pay-to-stay campground with a camp host. Because of that change, South Tourist Park will now close during the winter months."

It's definitely a bummer for frequent patrons of the property, but the move will definitely help curb maintenance and plowing expenses.

Closing South Tourist Park during the winter months also will eliminate winter expenses associated with the bathrooms, RV dump and plowing the roadway and parking lots in the park. (Want to still take a winter's stroll through the park? No problem. The River Walk trail system that runs through it will remain open and plowed through the winter.)
