If you have to put your money down on a business to win a Boy Scout pinewood derby challenge, one sure bet would be a car dealership.

Wackerli Subaru took first place this week at the Grand Teton Council’s inaugural Corporate Pinewood Derby Race held at the new Stone’s Kia showroom in Idaho Falls. The team’s $1,000 earnings went straight toward The Haven Shelter.

Aside from raising money for a specific charity, the event also promoted the Exploring program for high school students, which provides internship opportunities with local businesses and organizations, including the city police and fire departments.
