If you are planning on watching the Great American Eclipse, there will be no shortage of options in and around Greater Idaho Falls. Here are some places you can go.

Old Butte Soccer Complex
1107 N 26 W (West Broadway)
Plenty of space, but you can also expect plenty of crowds. The facility will be open to the public.

Tautphaus Park
2725 Carnival Way
If you’re visiting town for the eclipse, this venue is hard to beat. The park has its own skate park, ameusement facility, tennis courts and one of the finest little zoos west of the Mississipi River.

Freeman Park
1290 Science Center Dr.
This park is a great location for its many hills and viewing spots. (Just watch out for the passing disc golfers!) Situated just downstream from University Place, the park is home to the Idaho State Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Community Park
700 E 25 Street
Community Park offers plenty of electric outlets, picnic tables, a walking path and a playground for the visitors.

All four of the above I.F. locations will have public restrooms, public parking and wide open spaces available for all who want to join them. The duration of totality of the eclipse will be 1 minute and 40 seconds in Idaho Falls.

Main Street, Rigby
Main Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for motorists, but fully accessible for visitors to watch the eclipse. There will be food, shopping and family activities offered.

Jefferson County Lake
One mile north of Rigby
The recreation area will have lots of space in the beach or inside the water for visitors. The lake will offer summing, paddling, picnicking and fishing activities.

Rigby Rodeo Grounds
South Park, Rigby
The city of Rigby is offering dry camping sites from Aug. 18 through 21. RV fees are $75 and for tents $25 per night.

Jefferson School District 251, Rigby
The school district is offering campsites for three nights during the eclipse weekend. Campers will have access to the football field to watch the event and they will have free access to the activities offered in Rigby. Tickets are $250 for the weekend. All proceeds from the event will go to help all nine Jefferson County schools.

The duration of totality of the eclipse will be 2 minutes and 19 seconds in Rigby.

Riverside Park, Rexburg
The Rexburg Chamber of Commerce is offering, in a “Vendor Village,” booth spaces from Aug 18 through 21. For members of the Chamber of Commerce, the tickets are $100. For everyone else, it is $200.

Brigham Young University – Idaho
BYU-Idaho will offer a variety of activities during the eclipse weekend. Planetarium shows, fest-kids, lectures, breakfast and lunch are some of the activities offered. The tickets vary in price depending on the activity. For more information, visit byui.edu.

The duration of totality of the eclipse will be 2 minutes and 17 seconds in Rexburg.
