Want to get fit? If you're following the lead of five students from Rimrock Elementary, it all begins with putting on your dancing shoes.

McKinlee Hennefer, Katelyn Huls, Dallin Serr, Zachary Sharp and Connor Walker have just won the 2017 National Award for the ULTIMATE Fuel Up to Play 60 Dance. The students produced and submitted a video for the in-school nutrition and physical activity program, which is sponsored by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League. Their winning entry not only earned national recognition, but also a nice $1,000 check for the school.

"It took a lot of hard work, and these kids are really the heroes of the day," noted program volunteer Michele Kennedy. "The dance moves are really fun and simple. They even play it over the loudspeaker in the classroom, which makes for a great break. They've even made it a part of the elementary school's curriculum."

“We are very excited and proud of our Rimrock Students for their creativity and hard work in creating this amazing ULTIMATE Fuel Up to Play 60 Dance,” said Tina Orme, principal of Rimrock Elementary School in Ammon.  “They are such a fantastic group of students and wonderful role models inside and outside the classroom.”

On Friday, the school will hold a special assembly to celebrate the achievement.  to present the award. April Bruns, Health and Wellness manager for the Idaho Dairy Council and Fuel Up to Play 60 Program, will be on hand to present the award.

“We are thrilled to have an Idaho school receive such an important national award from the Fuel Up to Play 60 program,” said Bruns.  “Idaho has wonderful, active and healthy students, and it is exciting to share Idaho’s healthy voice with the national program.”

Other national ULTIMATE challenge categories included the ULTIMATE Smoothie Recipe and the ULTIMATE Song.  Rimrock held a school-wide contest for smoothie recipes in preparation for its national submission, which did not take home the national prize this year.  Participating schools were invited to submit entries for all three categories but would only be eligible to receive a national award for one category. Rimrock’s ULTIMATE Smoothie Recipe entrants will also receive awards at the assembly.

“We are very excited and proud of our Rimrock Students for their creativity and hard work in creating this amazing ULTIMATE Fuel Up to Play 60 Dance,” noted Tina Orme, principal of Rimrock Elementary School in Ammon. “They are such a fantastic group of students and wonderful role models inside and outside the classroom.”
