Stephanie Cook, Idaho National Laboratory economic and workforce development program manager (l), Jan Rogers, CEO of Regional Economic Development Eastern Idaho (c), and Amy Lientz, director of partnerships, engagement and technology deployment at Idaho National Laboratory (r), receive a bronze award for their regional promotional video from two International Economic Development Council representatives.

Regional Economic Development for Eastern Idaho (REDI) and Idaho National Laboratory (INL) received an Excellence in Economic Development Bronze Award today from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

REDI and INL were recognized with a Bronze Award for the region’s promotional video, "Living Life Now.  Working for Tomorrow.  Eastern Idaho."  The video was developed by REDI as part of its larger regional talent attraction campaign.  REDI and INL partnered with other local technology industries on the video to attract employees and businesses to eastern Idaho.

The award was given in the 25,000 to 200,000 population category.

“On behalf of the IEDC board of directors and Excellence in Economic Development Awards Advisory Committee, congratulations to Idaho National Laboratory. Not only did they work to provide a necessary service to their community; but also, their participation in the awards program sheds light on their stellar projects which other communities can now use a benchmark,” said Barry Matherly, CEcD, FM, IEDC 2016 Board Chair, President & CEO of the Greater Richmond Partnership.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by IEDC for the Eastern Idaho’s first talent and business attraction video,” said Jan Rogers, CEO of REDI.  “This video was developed with the support and cooperation of INL and regional businesses as a way to join together and promote Eastern Idaho’s employment and business climate, and unique lifestyle.  We’re honored to receive this award from IEDC.”

The 4-minute piece — edited and produced by Harris Publishing’s Steve Smede in collaboration with Boise-based Gallatin Public Affairs — features insights from tech-industry professionals across a variety of disciplines. The interviews were conducted on location at venues throughout eastern Idaho.

According to Stephanie Cook, INL economic and workforce development program manager, "Talent pipeline is such an important element of economic development today. The video is a novel approach of eastern Idaho partnering together to solve the challenge. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with industry, REDI, Gallatin Public Affairs and Harris Publishing to share the story of the amazing career opportunities and quality of life in eastern Idaho."

IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders. These awards honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban and rural communities.
