The Idaho Falls Winter Wonderland Light Parade will be held downtown at 6 p.m. Saturday evening, Nov. 28 following the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Civitan Plaza. The parade route will start along the Idaho Falls Greenbelt going south on Memorial Dr. to A Street, then east on A St. to Capital, Capital north to E Street.

The parade is free to the public with all float parade entries decked out with a minimum of 500 lights. Entries will range from self-propelled cycles to classic cars and will all be decorated with light.

The event organizer, current Mrs. Idaho Falls United States, Suzanne Sibbett, is excited to recreate this event.

“I remember when I was a little girl, we always sat in the same place and had a cup of hot chocolate in hand,” said Sibbett. “I thought it would be a great idea to bring back an old tradition and bring the community together.”

Proceeds from parade entries will go to the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center Forensic Nursing Program. The DVSAC Forensic Nursing Program is a pool of nurses specially trained to provide exams to victims of sexual assault.

If you are interested in participating in the parade or sponsoring a float, please contact Suzanne Sibbett at ssibbett86@gmail.com or at 208-529-4352.
