Summer isn’t over just yet. If you’re on the lookout for a fun weekend activity before school is in full swing, take the kids on a sunny adventure at the zoo! Saturday, August 29 is Community Appreciation Day at the Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park. It’s great for a family outing while the weather is still warm, plus the kids can brush up on their wildlife knowledge.

The best part? Visiting the zoo helps a good cause. Admission for Community Appreciation Day is one can of food per person, to be donated to the Idaho Falls Food Bank, or $1 per person to help fund a new education complex for the zoo, or both.

“Community Appreciation Day is the zoo’s way of saying thank you to the community for all the tremendous support throughout the year while helping out our local food bank. Funds can also be donated to the zoo’s future education complex or, if guests are feeling generous, it’s an opportunity to support both!” says Linda Beard, interim zoo superintendent.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to spend one more summer weekend out and about! And remember that you can find out more about zoo programs and classes by visiting the zoo’s website, by phone at (208) 612-8418, or by emailing zooeducation@idahofallszoo.org.
